Today was the May Allegan show. It's been a long but fun filled weekend. My late SSS submission is this one of Kev on the front of our tent about 6am this morning.

Here's a quick collage of a few other shots from the show...

(clockwise from upper left) 1.)Lisa's RetroStyle hats and bags display 2.)There's my favorite color of green again. Mmmm milkshakes:} 3.)Diners at the infamous Gretchen's Kitchen. 4.)Mmmm metal lawn furniture:} 5.)"Garden Art Bike". 6.)One of my most favorite customers in her new "made from vintage" SunHat.

Gotta get this posted before the clock strikes midnight!

Slowly but surely I've been chipping away at the "to do" list I mentioned last week. Among other things I got the bike and the table done. I forgot to take before photos, but rest assured, both pieces were rusty, legless, seat-less wonders.

This is the "restyled" table...

And it's already sold! It's sitting in that Denny's parking lot waiting for its new owners to come pick it up.

I also finished the "Garden Art Bike"...

Well, it is made for the garden. It is a bike. I'm not sure if it will meet most peoples expectations of art?! But it's a work of art to me!

Can you tell I'm in love with that color of green? Krylon calls it Pistachio. I love it and use it a lot. (Looks like I got my bucket on a little wonky...I'll have to fix that).

I love some of the details on the bike...

The chain looks better in red rick rack. Love the pattern of the front gear too. I find beauty in the simplest things...does that make me simple? Oh well, simple and happy that's me:D

Back to the garage and the paint fumes;) I've got a few more things I want to get done...

Alcona Dam Pond on the Au Sable River. May 2009.

Another Sunday in the shadows with Hey Harriet.

Wow! This blogger has gone totally off track. Remind me again...what is this blog about? Oh yeah, vintage. Antiques. Old stuff. That's right. So what's with all the shovel dueling, flowers, dancing, mushrooms and snakes! I've been all over the page. Must be spring fever?!

Time to get back on track. I've been working on a lot of things for the next couple of shows. The first one is Burley Park on Memorial Day. It's a real down and dirty flea market style show. They have all sorts of vendors there. I set up. But what I really like to do at this show is shop! All kinds of treasures to be had. Then the next weekend, Sunday the 31st is the Allegan show. Here's a peek at some of what I've been working on.

I have about a dozen of my made from vintage sun hats in various stages of completion. Some new made from vintage bags and banners. And a little re-upholstery project in the gossip bench.

Here's what I got finished today...

The bench in vintage barkcloth.

And a couple of hats. One in some Polynesian inspired vintage fabric and the other in a vintage cutter tablecloth.

Only 10 hats, 4 bags, 2 banners, a "garden art" bike and a re-styled table to go. Wish me luck!

I can't believe it's been a whole year of shooting shadows with Hey Harriet! I'm in awe of her dedication. Every Sunday, for a whole year, she has been a gracious host to all us far flung shadow shooters. Taking time every week to make lovely collages of our efforts and visiting our blogs to offer words of encouragement...often delivered with her unique brand of humor. Just wonderful! I salute you Ms. Harriet!! It's been a gas:D

Once one starts shooting shadows, I think for many of us, it's always right there in the back of our minds. You can be doing the most mundane thing when you spy a shadow and immediately you think...that would make a great shot for SSS. That's what came to my mind when we were morel hunting last weekend and stumbled across this little guy.

Creepy. I don't much care for snakes, but I couldn't resist all the shadowy goodness he had to offer.

Even his photos give me the willies!

Happy weekend everyone. And happy anniversary my shadow shooting friends! To check out all the other shadow shots, slither by Hey Harriet's and follow Mr. Linky.

There's a Fungus Among Us

Last weekend we made a trip to the north woods. One of my favorite places to be.

With some of my favorite people.

We were on the hunt. The hunt for fungi.

But not just any fungi. We were on the hunt for the elusive Morel. Can you see one in this photo? Morel hunting can be a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Here he is...

From time to time you have to take your eyes off the prize and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.

It's so beautiful and peaceful. I've often thought of moving in.

Hmmmm...maybe when I retire? Something to consider.

At the end of the day comes the reward.

I've been working on sewing up a new batch of sunhats to take to the May Allegan Market. Spending so much time inside over the sewing machine makes me hungry for nature. So, I've been taking nice long lunch breaks out on the lawn. It's a wonderful place to be.

I see I'm not the only one busy working.

Nothing feeds my soul like the beauty of nature.

What feeds your soul?

As penance for last weeks failed plot to overtake Harriet's lead for most shadows shot on a Sunday, I will now give an interpretive shadow presentation of Bjork's song "It's oh so quiet".

Love and war in the garden.

I know...pitiful...a was my attempt at shadow shot domination : { For more shadow play click on over to Hey Harriet's. Happy Sunday everyone!!
