WARNING: LONG POST AHEAD...

It was a BEAUTIFUL morning at the Allegan Antique Market this past Sunday. The bright morning sunlight was shining into RetroStyle's little tent.

And I took some of the worst photos ever! I had intended to get some good "after" shots of my projects set up in the booth, but they all came out soooo washed out, not even photoshop could help them. I salvaged the best and made them into a collage.

1.) The inside of the locker got decoupaged with some 1920's-30's vintage polka dot wallpaper. 2.) That is the star top table so washed out...who would know?! 3.) The metal cupboards got painted a lovely light blue...again so washed out, who could tell:{ 4.) Recycled bark cloth curtains and fringe from a vintage chenille bedspread made a sweet canopy for the surrey. 5.) The main restoration to the table was removing the rust and restoring the shine to the chrome. The trick...SOS pads and elbow grease. 6.) Redo to the top of the metal base cabinet.

My apologies for the disappointing photos.

One of the better photos was of the top of the metal cabinet. This is a before of the top of the metal base cabinet with its ubiquitous gold flecked 1960's Formica.

I resurfaced it with 1920's-30's vintage wallpaper. I L-O-V-E how this turned out. I really want to try this somewhere...on something in my house. Just love it!

It was accomplished by decoupaging the paper to the top and then coating with a few coats of polyurethane.

The surrey was very popular. Adults and kids alike really enjoyed it. These two girls were sweet enough to pose for photos on it...

The ultra hip Ms. Tie-dye even modeled one of the sunhats. I think she looks smashing! Thanks friend!!

Speaking of friends. There are two other lovely friends I would like to acknowledge for their kindness.

One is the talented Ali of Charlie and Grace from all the way over in Australia. Ali has two darling little shops on Etsy Jellygnite and Little Jellygnite. Ali creates some very sweet things...do take a moment and have a peek.

Last week Ali presented my blog this "Love ya" award.

I'm honored! Thanks Ali. Making friends around the world is truely one of the most wonderful things about blogging.

This award is bestowed on the blogs that are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award. Then let everyone know seven things about you.

As regular readers know...I'm a notorious rule breaker. I could not possibly limit (especially in the spirit of finding new friends) passing this along to only 8. So if you blog and are or aspire to be "exceedingly charming" and are not "self-aggrandizing" and would like to be friends...please accept this award. Let me know you've done so. I would love to be your blog friend:D

7 things about me: (trying to think of 7 things you don't already know...hmmm)
1.) I am allergic to the cold (really! I break out in hives). 2.) I talk to animals...alot. 3.) I am very good at finding 4 leaf clovers (I've picked 12 so far this summer). 4.) I have green eyes and freckles. 5.) I am a middle child. 6.) I resent my cat for killing things and not eating them (she kills for sport and that's just seems wrong!) 7.) I love Survivor.

The other friend I would like to acknowledge is the wonderful Pat of Mille Fiori Favoriti. Pat lives in Brooklyn and writes the best blog on New York. Her tours are just fabulous. Oh...and can she cook!! Pat participates in the Daring Baker and Daring Cook Challenges. She'll leave your mouth watering! If you haven't read her already, you really should give her a try.

Anyway, Pat recently held a giveaway and look what I won!

Everything was wrapped up so cute...but I was so excited I tore into it right in the post office. Pat bought the bag at the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn. It is so cute. I've already taken it grocery shopping:) The sweets and breadsticks were an added bonus...Mm mm. Thanks Pat! I'll think of you every time I go to the grocery store:)

Wow! If you've made it all the way down to here...thanks for sticking with me! Now that's a friend!!

I hope everyone here in the states has an incredible 4th of July weekend!!! Enjoy all the hot dogs and fireworks!

See ya next week!
