Shadow Shot Sunday - For the Birds

I was out puttering around in the garage earlier today trying to straighten things up a bit and assess what I had in stock. I've been thinking about what I might like to take to The Vintage Bazaar in Chicago next month....{quite excited about that one}.

Anyhoodles, I found some things I'd forgotten about and thought I'd bring them in to list in my shop.

In the process I spied the old Hendryx bird cage putting on its own little shadow show...

If you'd like to see what other shadows have been spotted this week...then fly on over to Hey Harriet's.

Rolling Laundry Cart

So, this weekend I was working a little fix on an old laundry cart. It's been sitting around a while waiting for my attention. It finally got it this weekend. While trying to organize my craft occurred to me the cart would be a good place to put my waiting mending and ironing.

The bags were edged in a plastic trim that was more crack than trim.

Despite hours of soaking the rust stains remain.

I removed the trim, replacing it with some vintage bias tape from my stash, patched some holes and....voila

I replaced its missing casters with the only set of four I had on favorite porcelain ones.

Last step....fill'er up!

Head out on the Highway...

I love road trips, so I was thrilled to wake up, on this fine morning, to find an inspiring treasury!

It's like a warm summer breeze in the cold depths of winter...ahhh.

I'm hard pressed to choose a fav item from the collection. I really like the GMC...perfect wheels for a road trip.

Vintage Fitness Fun

I don't know about you, but every New Years I make some sort of a resolution related to diet and exercise...every new year planning to somehow do a little better. This of course is the time of year that those plans start to peter out.

Time for a little vintage fitness inspiration....

Gotta love Jack Lalanne!

Maybe a new workout is what I need to get me back on track...

Wheezi G's ~ Recycled Glassware

On my way to an estate sale last week (that turned out to be a bust) I stopped in a little shop that I hadn't noticed before. I was greeted at the door by Jack (aww, he is so cute)...

Jack's friend Jeanne was the owner of the shop. Jeanne's business offers a variety of services and products including custom decorating, crafting classes, holiday decor items and soy candles. I was especially intrigued by the beautiful and unique re-purposed glass pieces she does.

Jeanne breaths new life into cast off glassware. I especially love her pedestal or cake plates. Very nice!

In addition to an assortment of other glass creations, Jeanne also does unique garden art in the form of towers (right upper) and sticks (middle). These would certainly look lovely tucked in among the flowers.

If you're ever passing thru Durand, MI you can find Jeanne's shop @ 11991 E. Lansing Rd. or find her on the web here.

You may recall my recent confession regarding a fascination with roadside kitsch. Well, now I'd like to confess something else…I have a fetish for vintage signage. I can't explain it...but I do.

To satisfy my jones for eye-catching insignias I decided to capture a photographic record of those as well.

Here’s my first installment. Both signs were found in Flint, Michigan.

Shadow Shot Sunday

The days are short,
The sun a spark
Hung thin between
The dark and dark.
