Friday Finds ~ E.L. Rice & Company Wholesale Jewelers 1931

I recently acquired this very cool old catalogue (thanks Mom!). It belonged to my Great Grandmother.

E.L. Rice & Company Wholesale Jewelers Detroit, Michigan. 1931.

I don't know how, when or why Grandma acquired the book...but she was using it as a scrapbook. She collected a lot of newspaper clippings of the Dionne quintuplets, Roosevelt, an unidentified woman speed skater and other stories of the day.

While the first several pages were filled with clippings...most of the pages were unused. As one would expect...there are pages and pages of jewelery.

There are also a lot of  pages featuring a great variety of other items including beautiful Premier nail kits....

...Art-Y-Zan Toilet Ware dresser sets...

...gorgeous McRae and Keeler Co. compacts...

...Volupte "vanities"...

...Mandalian and Mastercraft purses...

...Gloria Silk umbrellas...

...Elgin American MFG. smoker sets...

...Della Robbia Pattern tea sets...

..."Tonk-Special" banjos...

... and New Haven clocks...to name but a few!

What an awesome resource!! I have plans to scan the pages of this catalogue for anyone else who might like to peruse the pages or use it to help with identifying items.
