Urban Decay Revisited = Urban Renewal

This is amazing to me. I previously posted a photo of this poor old house here.

I drove past it again last week...not quite 2 years later...I did a double take...

Amazing...I don't know who made that happen...but I'm really proud of them!

Now I'm super excited to see what becomes of the gem just across the street....

1962 Redux...

Dear US Automobile Manufactures,

Would one of you be so kind as to whip me up one of these little numbers...

...or this one would work equally as well. Either would be just the ticket for hauling around my vintage finds...and my dog of course.

I'll be needing it to be an electric model as I'm keen on saving the planet any further assault by fossil fuel.Thank you.

                                                                                            Kind regards,
                                                                                                         Lisa B.

Baby It's Cold Outside...

In recent days temps have been running a good 10 degrees colder than average around here...so it's no wonder these bundled up folks caught my eye at an estate sale this past weekend.

Clearly...they knew how to stay warm in style!

Vintage Signs, Cherry Pie and Grandpa...

I can't believe summer 2012 is growing ever distant in the rear-view mirror. It was a good one. I'm missing it already.  Below are couple of vintage signs I crossed paths with this summer...

 ...and a somewhat unexpected pie...

...and grandpa. Found on some old family slides...from some long ago summer.

Blog-cation?

Good morning. I'm back. I didn't plan on taking a blog-cation...it just sort of happened. I must say, it was rather lovely. The whole expanse of summer...undocumented...save a handful of instagram photos. I had a nice summer. I hope you did too.

This morning while looking in on the Etsy shops...I wound up on their blog, as I am often apt to do...and noticed this video. Very cool. An amazing interface, I think, of high and low tech.

Good job Jack Zylkin...way to innovate!

Rough day...maybe a little No. 17 's what's in order?

Think I'd better stock up on No. 1 and 14...bound to be needing those this summer.

Rain, Rain, Go Away...

....and don't come back til after the Springfield show!

Rain has been causing a bit of delay in many of the projects I've been working on for The Vintage Marketplace @ Springfield....so, I've come inside to work on price tags...cut, punch, string, knot...cut, punch, string, knot and repeat...and repeat...and repeat.....

One of the delayed projects is this set of HeyWoodite dinette chairs.  They have been sorely neglected over the years and I can't wait to see their finished makeover!

Come on sunshine!

Update: Here are the Hey Woodite chairs post makeover...looking good!

I Heart Fridays ~ Vintage Concrete Lawn Ornaments

While perusing images to include on my Pinterest board "Rustic Vintage Farmhouse Style"...I found and promptly fell in love with these concrete roosters. Adorable!

I would love to have them on my own kitchen shelf as bookends for my cookbooks. Sadly they were already sold when I found them :(

That got me looking around for other vintage concrete lawn ornaments.

I think this swan would be lovely as a centerpiece...in the dinning room or on an entryway table...with a big beautiful bunch of spring flowers on his back!

Sweet. Extra sweet on a nursery shelf.

Another sweet one for the nursery shelf.

He looks huge...not sure where to put him...but he's handsome.

I'm not sure what's on her back...but alone, she would make a nice doorstop.

Definitely bookends for these two. On the shelf over the potting bench holding up the gardening books. Perfect!

I Heart Fridays ~ Feedsack Fabric

Last weekend I had the pleasure of hanging out with gal pal Lisa Price of Vintage Goodies and Art Goodies. I'd always been curious about feedsack fabric and Lisa was the perfect person to hep me to it. She has an amazing stash and gave me a nice little tutorial on identification! Here's a little selection of some of my favorites...

Love those homey retro patterns!

Fabric from Lisa's stash often end up on items in her ArtGoodies shop...like the ties on this cute rooster apron...
 Mmm feedsack fabric...LOVE it :)
